My name is Tim "Sompeetalay" Veekhoven from Belgium. In september 2000 I made a trip to Tunesia and saw 3 locations where the Star Wars crew once filmed. I will here tell you more about this trip.
I knew I had to see some locations, if I didn't, I shouldn't be going to Tunesia. After all, not many fans can do this, due to the distance, but for European fans it's a little closer. I first intended to visit as many locations as I could. But when I arrived at Djerba (where the hotel was) I knew that was far from possible. We were not able to drive a car, so we had to rely on others to bring us to the locations. Tunesia is also - by Belgian standards - a large country and some locations (Tozeur) were really far away from our hotel. So I had to skip some locations immediately. I kept four: the Lars' Homestead, the Cantina, Ben Kenobi's house and Anchorhead - Mos Eisley entry. I managed to see three of them. Anchorhead was skipped due to unsuspected water problems ...
Standing face to face with these building was great ! In fact I felt more part of the Star Wars story than when I visited the Barbican exhibition in London. Knowing that Lucas himself and other prominent actors - crewmembers visited these strange and bizarre locations just like you really gives you a good feeling. And surely when I saw how the Lars' Homestead was still decorated with all the Episode II stuff.
